Our Commitment to Sustainability

Greener Hospitality Starts Here

At The Milner York, we are committed to sustainability by continually evolving our practices to adopt greener hotel initiatives, reduce our carbon footprint, and encourage sustainable travel.

Waste Recycling

We recycle 100% of our waste.

Community Partnerships

We are partnered with a local primary and secondary school.

Eco-Friendly Products

90% of our cleaning products are eco-friendly.

Green Team Initiatives

We have a staff Green Team that meets quarterly to help management set environmental targets.

Energy Conservation

We use energy-saving modes throughout the hotel.

Water Reduction Goals

We aim to reduce our water consumption by 10%.

Water-saving devices are fitted in all our food and beverage areas, toilets, and bedrooms.

Charity Support

We work with local charities and support an annual charity through fundraising. Our current charity is St John Ambulance.

Food Waste Management

Food waste is diverted to anaerobic digestion for energy generation.

Food Redistribution

We work alongside Too Good To Go to reduce food waste.

Lighting and Electricity Efficiency

We aim to use 100% LED bulbs and reduce our electricity consumption by 10%.

Sustainable Guest Amenities

Guest bathroom amenities are provided via bulk dispensers rather than single-use plastics.

Sustainable Guest Materials

We use wooden key cards and wooden "Do Not Disturb" hangers to reduce plastic waste.

Wildlife Support

We’ve introduced bug houses, bird boxes, and hedgehog homes in our gardens.

Green Key Certification

We are proud to be Green Key certified, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental responsibility.
